Participation Terms
Who Can Participate?
Anyone using a digital camera, analog camera, and/or a mobile phone can participate, whether they are amateurs or professionals. It is open to all photography enthusiasts.
How Many Themes Are There?
PhotoMarathons can be organized with 6 themes, 9 themes, 12 themes, or 24 themes according to international standards. The number of themes for the PhotoMarathon you are participating in will be announced.
Sequential Delivery of Themes
In PhotoMarathon, themes must be submitted in the order announced. This rule is consistent with all other PhotoMarathon events worldwide. The most important rule is that a photograph must be taken for each announced theme before moving on to the next station. For example, photographs cannot be taken for themes that were announced before the 4th theme.
Check the Camera’s Time Settings
Before the event, the camera’s date settings should be checked. Photos taken in the past will be disqualified. This is an important and sensitive issue.
Photo Manipulation Is Prohibited
Photos cannot be edited using Photoshop or similar programs. No manipulation is allowed on the photos. Photos must be submitted in their original form on the SD card. Cropping or rotating a photo, if allowed by the camera, is not against the rules. Photos produced using the stacking technique will be considered against the rules.
Bring Your Equipment
On PhotoMarathon day, participants should have an empty memory card and charged batteries with them. Otherwise, the PhotoMarathon team cannot intervene. In some PhotoMarathons, services such as camera rental, lens cleaning, and SD card provision may be available at sponsor stands.
Don’t Be Late for Stations
Themes are announced at predetermined stations. Participants must arrive on time to learn the themes. Participants can be up to 30 minutes late for the stations.
Capture PM Icons
In each station, there is a PhotoMarathon icon. Before taking photos for the themes, PM icons must be photographed. PM icons prove that the participant is present at that station.
Number of Submissions
The number of accepted photos at PhotoMarathon submission points = Number of themes + Number of PM icons. In a 6-theme PhotoMarathon, a total of 9 photos, including icons, are accepted. In a 9-theme PhotoMarathon, a total of 12 photos, including icons, are accepted. In a 12-theme PhotoMarathon, a total of 15 photos, including icons, are accepted.
Format / Image Processing
Only JPG formats are accepted. Please set your camera to the JPG format and the image quality to “high.” As for image format, it is recommended to choose the 4:3 format as per standards. You can use a flash or tripod as needed for evening shots.
Punctuality
Participants who do not arrive at the meeting point within 30 minutes after the start time or those who are not visible during the specified times or during break hours will be disqualified. The same rule applies to the arrival station’s time. A grace period of half an hour for each station is allowed.
